What it is
Removal of a wisdom tooth that is causing pain, infection or damage to the tooth in front, including teeth that are stuck under the gum.
Who it's for
People with repeated gum swelling at the back of the mouth, pain, decay or cysts around a wisdom tooth.
What to expect

An X-ray to see the position of the tooth and nearby nerves.

Local anaesthetic so the area is fully numb.

The tooth is removed, sometimes in sections for a gentler procedure.

Stitches if needed, and clear aftercare instructions.
Aftercare
Bite on gauze, avoid rinsing for 24 hours, eat soft food and do not smoke. Swelling peaks on day two or three.
