What it is
A crown is a custom cap that covers and protects a weak or broken tooth. A bridge fills a gap by attaching a false tooth to crowns on the teeth either side.
Who it's for
People with a cracked, heavily filled or root-treated tooth, or a single missing tooth where an implant is not suitable.
What to expect
- 1
The tooth is shaped and an impression or scan is taken.
- 2
A temporary crown protects the tooth while the final one is made.
- 3
The final crown or bridge is checked for fit, colour and bite, then cemented.
Aftercare
Brush and floss as normal. With a bridge, clean under the false tooth with floss threaders or small brushes.
